Why do the Hot Pilates training?

Why movements academy?

Our passionate and dedicated Movements team, along with Master Teacher Trainers Patrick and Martine, take a fluid approach to teaching and continually consider movement in all aspects of life. We weave this philosophy into our training by guiding participants to become increasingly adaptive, mentally and physically strong, and responsive both in and out of the studio through the art of controlled movement.

Patrick.

Originally from Germany, calling Amsterdam home for many years – with his wide & varied background in the performing arts – Patrick has a broad knowledge & understanding of the body. Pilates, Yoga, Gyrotonics and other fitness related practices helped Patrick prevent injuries & discover his balance after retiring from his fulltime dance career.

Movement has always been an important part of Patrick’s life. In his classes he inspires his students to enhance their strength & mind-body wellness through physical exercise. Zooming out of yourself, indulging into Patrick’s quirky character and high energy classes, YOU will definitely leave the room sweaty, accomplished and welcoming your next adventure with a big smile!

His main focuses are Pilates, Barre, Movement lessons, and coaching. Patrick received his Comprehensive Pilates Training with Polestar Pilates (Mat & all Machinery) and PLTS Reformer Pilates. He has worked for various Boutique Pilates Studios as a Master Trainer, scouting and training new talent and working with private clients like athletes, active, and ex-professional dancers.

As a dancer, he got his education with Folkwang University of the Arts, ArtEZ Arnhem and The Ailey School New York. He’s danced with various dance companies like Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and Het Internationaal Danstheater. He has set pieces by famous choreographers he has danced with at ArtEZ and Codarts and has recently been guest teaching Ballet and Body conditioning & rehearsal directing for the Marigny Opera Ballet in New Orleans.

Martine.

Martine discovered her love for Pilates & Barre in 2007 while living in the US with her family. It was an instant connection, and it beautifully blended her passion for Movement. She started dancing when she was three years old- with a focused & effective workout routine. She quickly realized that both practices provided her with strength, length, and a renewed sense of alignment in her body. To this day, it serves as her daily meditation practice.

In 2014, Martine completed an intensive Barre training program at Forme Barre in the US. Upon returning to the Netherlands, she started teaching barre as one of the first ones in The Netherlands.

Martine quickly expanded her expertise by completing her Stott Pilates Mat training in The Hague, Hot Pilates Teacher training, and recently Hot Yoga Teacher training (both at Movements). This diverse knowledge of complementary movement styles enriches her understanding of how the body moves. Martine has lead several Barre teacher trainings, and she has been was part of the Pilates Teacher Training team for the Hot Pilates Teacher Training at Movements.

Martine is dedicated to teaching & has been teaching for over 10 years now. Her classes are full of energy & have a strong focus on alignment. She loves witnessing the transformation in her clients. She enjoys seeing them arrive with a smile and leave feeling stronger, energized, and aligned after each class.
