Our passionate & dedicated Movements team and Master Teacher Trainer, Julie Sceeny, take a fluid approach to teaching and constantly consider movement, in all aspects of life. We weave this into our training by teaching those who participate to become increasingly adaptive, strong (mentally and physically), and responsive both in and out of our studios – all through the art of controlled movement.
Julie was first introduced to Yoga by the Golf Professional at the local golf club to help improve her golf swing and was hooked ever since. Having worked previously in the Film and video industry Julie turned her attention to her passion which was yoga. Julie has been teaching since 2006, in 2010 she moved from the UK to go work for an international yoga and pilates studio in Bangkok Thailand. Since then she has taught over 12.000 yoga and pilates classes.

Movements Yoga Academy team is certified by the Yoga Alliance to offer an exclusive 200-hour alliance certification Hot Yoga course.
This four week intensive Hot Yoga course is designed specifically to turn students into Hot Yoga teachers. We accomplish this very succesfully through practice teaching, functional anatomy studies, yoga history, speaking skills and leadership training.
Our teaching team consist of exceptionally qualified, working professionals with a minimum of 1000 teaching hours experience. And our head trainer Paul Kortekaas has over 5.000 teachings hours, this master trainer level is extremely rare in the industry.
Paul has been practicing hot yoga intensively for almost 10 years and was hooked after his very first encounter. Along the way he realized more and more just how complete it was. He noticed lasting improvement in muscle mass, suppleness, concentration and stamina. From head to toe, from inside outwards, physically and mentally, it was possible to develop yourself within the energy of the group while collectively reaching new heights. For Paul, hot yoga was much more than a ‘work-out’; it was a way of living. He started practicing every day, completed the 100-day yoga challenge, took advanced training courses, attended workshops and twice participated in the Dutch Asana Championships.
These days Paul devotes his energy to coaching, motivating and inspiring students in a professional way, so they too can experience how the power of hot yoga can bring a significant change to their lives.
Completed trainings
Hot Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yoga Trapeze, Ground Control Pilates, Pilates Reformer, Head trainer of 10 different Yoga Teacher Trainings.
Mireia has always been into fitness and a few years ago she discovered hot yoga. At first, she started to practice for the relaxation and focus/concentration benefits. At the time this was a way to escape and balance a pressured working life. What she liked about hot yoga from the beginning was the fitness element. The fact that you could disconnect from the outside world and get a workout in one go was amazing! The more she practiced, the more she wanted to do it. She started doing workshops in order to benefit from a more detailed explanation of each posture. For Mireia, yoga is now a way of life; her way of life.
Completed trainings
Hot Yoga, Yin Yoga, Shiva Rae, Pilates
Originally a photographer for 35 years and engaged throughout his life in many sports, Victor decided to become a yoga teacher noticing the positive effects of yoga on his physical and mental wellbeing.
He did numerous training and workshops with Mark Drost, Zefea Samson, Christina Sell, John Field, Shiva Rea and many other inspiring teachers and continues to develop his skills. He taught well over 3500 classes.
His classes can be challenging and adventurous but always focused on practicing with awareness and providing a safe place to learn and explore.
Marije has always loved sports, especially those involving a good work-out. She started doing yoga at the gym, but mostly practiced it on the side. Once she took a hot yoga class, she fell in love with it. She loves to sweat and stretch, and finds the feeling she has afterwards indescribable. exactly what she was looking for…
She stopped playing field hockey to concentrate more on yoga, practicing hot yoga and variety of other styles. Now yoga is no longer a workout; it’s a necessity.
Tanya was introduced to the yoga world in 2006 through raja yoga and meditation in Montreal, Canada. She learned early on that the most important yoga practice was off her mat and in her heart. She traveled to Jamaica to attend an ashtanga yoga retreat. After becoming friends with some serious yogis, she had a spiritual revelation. She realized she wanted to dedicate her precious time on earth to spreading light, love and compassion.
Tanya was working in the banking world when she decided to quit the corporate life and pursue something that made her smile everyday. She started practicing yoga more intensely and fell in love with the extra benefit that hot yoga gave her.
She is a strong believer in having a strong foundation in asanas, therefore always encouraging her students to take one step back to be able to go two steps further next time. You will usually find Tanya smiling around the studio, or singing in the showers, unless she’s attending a flow class of course!
